Some important notes regarding CPA Contract Lifts

Under CPA Contract Lift conditions, the customer remains responsible for providing accurate information relating to both the items to be lifted and to the ground conditions and ensuring safe access and egress of the site.

The customer must have public liability insurance.

It is important to note that a CPA Crane Hire contract only becomes a CPA Contract Lift Hire contract when the crane owner supplies the Appointed Person and, hence, accepts responsibility for all aspects of the lift.

CPA Contract Lifting FAQs

A Construction Plant Hire Association (CPA) contract lift is an alternative to standard crane hire.

Whilst the customer still hires a crane and qualified operator, the crane hire company adopts the majority of the associated risks and responsibilities.

They will ensure that every aspect is executed safely and efficiently – from choosing a suitable crane for the job to designating an appointed person, supervising the lift, and arranging signalling and slinging duties.

The crane company will also insure the goods being lifted against loss or damage and be liable for loss or damage to the crane and associated equipment.

To find out more about CPA contract lifting, get in touch with Bryn Thomas Cranes today.

As a fully managed, turnkey lifting solution, a contract lift is the perfect option for customers who have never hired a crane before.

Working with cranes can be dangerous. Unsafe working practices can result in injuries, fatalities, and costly damages to buildings and materials – but, unlike a standard crane hire, the burden of responsibility shifts to the crane hire company.

If you don’t have your own qualified person to plan the lift, then you’ll also need a contract lift. The crane hire firm will conduct a site visit to assess the conditions and lifting requirements before preparing a risk assessment and method statement – allowing you to relax knowing that every aspect is taken care of properly.

Another thing worth noting about contract lifting is that – although you will need to provide accurate information relating to the goods being moved and the ground conditions – insurance cover will be provided.

The cost of crane hire and contract lifting is dependent on numerous factors – including the type and size of the crane, the duration of your project, and your location. Bearing this in mind, it’s difficult to provide an exact figure for a contract lift.

The upfront cost of a CPA contract lift tends to be more expensive than a standard crane hire, but the burden of risks and planning is handed over to the crane hire firm. This means, whilst you’ll pay more initially, you can trust that every aspect of the lift will be executed professionally and safely whilst complying with stringent regulations.

Arranging a CPA contract lift couldn’t be easier than it is here at Bryn Thomas Cranes.

The first step is to get in touch with our team to discuss your requirements in further detail. We’ll need to know a little bit about the task at hand, particularly the type, size, and weight of the load that needs moving or lifting, and how accessible your site is.

Once we know this, and we’ve inspected your site, we can then advise you on a suitable crane for the job – ensuring maximum safety and efficiency.

It’s also helpful to know your start date and timeframe to ensure that the crane (and our competent team) arrives in ample time.
