Bryn Thomas Cranes has taken delivery of its third LTM 1090-4.1. in less than a year. The 90 tonne capacity crane can carry 17 tonnes of a maximum 21 tonne counterweight along with the 19 meter double swing-away jib. The LTM 1090-4.1 is a two-engine crane with a compact four-axle chassis. The crane has a 50 meter telescopic main boom and swing-away jib to give a maximum lifting height of 75 meters. The crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 90 tonnes at a 3 meter radius and a maximum working radius of 62 meters. It has extremely compact dimensions and the greatest maneuverability in its class.
Bryn Thomas Cranes has opted to purchase all the LTM 1090-4.1’s with VarioBase, which is particularly effective for lifting operations in locations where space is restricted. This unique system, developed by Liebherr, enables each out-rigger to be extended independently to varying lengths with the crane operation made safe by the load moment limiter within the LICCON control. The Variable Supporting Base ensures higher lifting capacities and a larger working range, even with a maximum support base, with the largest increases made in the operating ranges directly above the supports.
Dylan Thomas commented: ‘We are extremely happy with the Liebherr product and most importantly the range of cranes they have to offer. The LTM 1090-4.1 has high load capacities over its entire working range. Its compact dimensions and speed-dependent rear-axle steering delivers maximum maneuverability on constricted sites which suits the companies customer base. We have chosen this crane to boost the fleet within the North East operating area. This crane will be shortly followed by more Liebherr product in the coming weeks, which will see the delivery of two LTM1055.3.2’s and the companies flagship LTM1500.8.1.
